Ellen DeGeneres is without a doubt, one of the most generous hosts in television as she gave out $1 Million to her studio audience for helping make her One Million Acts of Good Campaign a success.
Every person in the audience has made an act of kindness that made a difference in the world including Lori Gaines, a teacher who selflessly donated her kidney to the mother of one of her students, couple Kenya and John Hughes who helped victims of Hurricane Harvey by driving 800 miles just to deliver supplies, and Dan McKernan who quit his job to build a sanctuary for farm animals.
“Thanks to every single person in the audience, it is filled with goodness and we have reached one million acts of good because of all of you, so I want to do something that we’ve never done before. This is big,” DeGeneres told her audience.
She then showed the audience a large Cheerios box in remembrance of the campaign and then told her audience that every person in the audience who has a Cheerios box under their seat will receive a special surprise gift.
To their delight, everyone found a Cheerios box and then she revealed her big surprise.
“You’re all going to share this gift,” DeGeneres began. “It’s the biggest gift I have given anybody, ever. And I hope that you continue to pay it forward and share all the good.”
After reminding them to continue doing good, the host then told them the good news: “Hold on to your Cheerios because all of you are splitting $1 million,” she said to the excitement of everyone.
The audience went wild after hearing the announcement and seeing DeGeneres unveil the stack of money that they will all share.
The Independent calculated each person went home with roughly $2,500.
